Bill Allen earned his B.S. degree from MTSU in 1994 and his M.Ed. degree from MTSU in 1996. He is currently completing the requirements for his Ed.S. degree specializing in Secondary Education Administration and Supervision. Bill worked for Steven's Aviation in Nashville during his undergraduate work and after graduation in several capacities including A&P mechanic.

Mr. Allen was employed by the university in 1995 as an adjunct faculty member and as interim AWS Facilities Manager in the Spring of 1996. He applied for and received the position full-time in the summer of 1996. He is responsible for teaching several of the classes in the 147 curriculum, maintenance of airport campus buildings, restoration and maintenance of university special-use aircraft, equipment procurement and maintenance, and student worker supervisor. Mr. Allen has supervised the restoration of the department's Cessna 150 "Texas Taildragger" conversion and the Piper PA18-150 Super Cub. In addition to these two aircraft, Mr. Allen procured a Cessna T41 for the University through Surplus Property and has brought it up to airworthy status.  As of the Fall semester of 2000, Mr. Allen has accepted the position of Full-time Faculty member in the Aerospace Department.  He is also the FAR 147 coordinator with responsibility for maintaining the records and curriculum of the A&P program.

Mr. Allen holds an Airframe and Powerplant license and an Inspection Authorization. He also holds the flight rating of Private pilot, single engine, land with tailwheel and high performance endorsements. Mr. Allen received the Aviation Safety Counselor of the Year Award for the Nashville Flight Standards District Office and has received the "Diamond Award" for achievement in maintenance training and education from the FAA.
